6731 Main Street in Stouffville Ontario has something going on in front of the house. But what is it? I stopped my car and got out to take a look.

As I looked inside the “rooms” I realized this was an extraordinary creation for Halloween! Here are some of the haunting things I saw.

I think we should have a closer look at this fellow.

And what is behind this DO NOT ENTER? I dread to think! Are those skeleton hands trying to get out?

There were two men chatting at the side of the house. One came toward me and I asked if it was ok to take photos. He said that would be fine. He then explained that they had been doing something special for Halloween for 5 years and this was their biggest display so far. They did it to raise money for a women’s shelter Yellow Brick House. Click on the link to get more information on this shelter. He told me they were accepting cash or donations of food. I apologized for having neither and he said that was fine I could come back on Halloween and there would be people there then to take the donations. So far, in the years they have been doing this, they have raised over $3000 for this shelter.
For me this is an unusual form of Street Art but it is art and it is right on the Main Street and best of all it is done to raise funds for a woman’s shelter . I know that during the Pandemic incidents of abuse have risen dramatically so this shelter is needed now more than ever.
This is my second response to Lens Artists Photo Challenge Street Art#170 given to us by Patti at Pilotfishblog.
I will be going back to this street art on Halloween for sure with some food and some $. If you live in the area near Stouffville do come by and see this amazing display.
Wow that’s a real example of going above and beyond. I hope they have continued fundraising success into the future. And by the way, I feel that the Do Not Enter sign is there to provoke a bit of reverse psychology and make sure someone DOES enter. 😄

Maybe they do want someone to go in there. Perhaps when I go back on Halloween I will try it!
