The autumn leaves are changing color and falling to the ground. But that is not the only sign that Autumn is here. The Chipmunks are busy! They hibernate in their underground homes for the winter. Now you can see them filling their cheeks with seeds and nuts which they take down to their lairs to eat in the winter. Apparently they store enough for several winters! Always good to be prepared. Autumn is when they get really serious about getting their food in .

Judging by how our weather changed today, winter is right on our doorstep. That four letter word has crept back into the forecast. ❄☃🐧🐧☃❄

We are keeping the above average temps until the weekend and then BOOM down they go. But not cold enough for that white stuff yet. But last week I got my snow tires put on . It will come and the Farmers Almanac is predicting a hard winter. Also all the coniferous trees have masses of cones at the top and that is seen as a sign of a hard winter to come. /

Nature is wonderful. These little kritters know exactly when and how much they need for winter and extra for in case.

Yes they do know. And why not have some extra just in case! Thanks for commenting.

They are so cute! To think that they have a safe and warm place for the winter, with plenty of food close at hand. Very fortunate. Your phots are great.
