This week Lens Artist Tina of Travels and Trifles invites us to look for photos of things and places that have “seen better days.” I knew where I would look for photos. First of all, our trip to Cambodia and the ruins at Angkor.
And finally a reminder that some find themselves on hard times and seek refuge in a church.

Yes it was. It was part of a river cruise to Vietnam and Cambodia.
Absolutely loved this post Anne. One of my few travel regrets is that we did not visit Phnom Penh when we were in Cambodia. I adored all of Angkor and the other wats which was our original purpose for the visit, but having studied the history of the country it was a major miss. Thanks for sharing these amazing images.
You are most welcome Tina. The killing fields are a very distressing thing to see. We travelled by boat from Phnom Phen to Ho Chi Minh city via the river. That was a wonderful way to see the countryside, the temples and the people going about their lives.

Yes it is staggering really. But when we were in Cambodia ( 10 years ago) the people were so enthusiastic about their future and so happy to see things looking up.

It was a tragic site we saw in Cambodia but Angkor Wat was amazing and so historic. Beautiful images . Thanks.
You are most welcome. I found the killing fields almost unbearable and the museum in Phnom Phen where they held people before killing them and took photographs of all of them was so distressing. I wanted to go out and just wail after looking at a photo of a woman holding a baby that was no longer alive. But Angkor Wat was wonderful.
Yes it was so sad ..we saw the photos of all of these people killed.. so tragic

Yes and the memorial has hundreds of them. So sad.

That is truly very sad what happened to all those people and it must have been hard to see all those skull, so tragic.
Yes it was very hard to see. I had a hard time not crying..There was one place where they had killed children and that was heartbreaking. I did not want to put that in the blog post.
