Toyota Canada is a partner of the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic committees. With no spectators to cheer on our Canadian athletes Toyota came up with a plan for Virtual cheering. They have organized a coast to coast movement of people doing a wave via video or photo and using the hashtag #ToyotaWave. The athletes in Tokyo will know we are cheering for them even if we are not there. Here is the video we did at the barn with two horses, Piper and Dave joining in. Two Time Olympian, and my coach, Belinda Trussell is in the center wearing a white hat and waving a Canadian flag. I am the one with a flag and red socks!
And introducing Piper who was a calm and willing participant in our #ToyotaWave!
Our other willing participant was Dave who was wearing the ‘Olympic’ red cooler.
YEs those coolers are Belindas for other times she has been on Canadian teams. Dave’s is from the 2016 Rio Olympics and was worn by Anton who is now retired. Piper’s is from a Nations Cup competition in Florida and was also Anton’s or possibly Tatoo. Both are now retired. Thanks for your good wishes. The team are reading some of the posts so they will see your good wishes.
Belinda’s groom Lexi had Dave to hold for the wave and he popped his head up at the end as you can see. But Lexi gave him a reminder and wagged her finger at him. He recovered immediately! She is also so good with the big horse Touch. He is nervous of lots of things and we call her his security blanket and the horse we call Linus!
