Pink! FOTD

July is the month for PINK in the garden. I went out and took photos of all the lovely pink flowers. I know what some of these plants are but not all. I follow Bruce Ferguson’s blog In My Backyard. He always has the correct Latin nomenclature for all the lovely flowers he shares in his photos. Sadly I cannot name all of mine. But if anyone reading this post knows the names please let me know in the comments. Here are my collection of Pinks for Cee’s FOTD.

Pink Astilbe
Echinacea. I have not added any pink saturation when editing this photo. This truly is the shocking color of the flower!
Hydrangea close up. A wider shot is below.
This hydrangea had not bloomed at all for several years. This past winter I left all the branches on and they came through the winter as bare sticks. Then I moved it to a different place in the garden. The sticks began to produce some leaves, then more leaves and finally these lovely blooms!
Don’t know the name of this one.

Finally this is what I call the “candyfloss flower”. It reminds me of the pink spun sugar sold on sticks at funfairs. I have been told the name of this charming flower but I cannot remember it. If you know please leave a comment below.

    I would have guessed the last is a form of Filipendula rubra. It’s beautiful whatever the name. 🙂

      Thanks for commenting. I will look that one up. At thr moment the vote is going with Joe Pye weed. There is also an impressive Lattin name for it.

      I think this may be it! I looked up phothos of the filipendula rubra and it looks very similar. It also looks like Joe Pyebweed. Both have simular blooms and are tall growing.

      I think you may be right. I looked up photos of the filipendula rubra and thr blooms look very similar. Both are tall growing. I looked up the Joe Pye Weed and those blooms also look similar and it also grows tall. So this one remains a bit of a mystery.

      Hey I think it is the Joe Pye weed.the formal name is Eupatorium Maculatum. It is native to Ontario!

        I think native to NY too, it’s always around, sometimes taller than me.

          Yes it is also native to New York. Mine are about 5 ft high. I have not seen it growing anywhere in the wild up here.

      Thank you Cee.. Your tips have helped me a lot with my flower photography. This weekend I will be back out to a horse show with my 250-600 lens trying to capture those moving horses at the right moment. Photography is a world in itself really.

      I have looked up Salvia and I think it is.Thanks! The candy floss one is probably Joe Pye Weed aka Eupatorium Maculatum.
