On theWater. LAPC #155

This week Johnbo has given us the Lens Artists Challenge #155 On The Water. I went to my photo archives for some “on the water ” photos.

London 2012 Olympics. The Equestrian competition was at Greenwich. We travelled from Westminster Pier by boat and arrived at Greenwich. The Olympic rings greeted us when we came to the dock.
On our way to Greenwich. Team GB had won the Gold medal in dressage two days before. The afternoon this photo was taken I would see Charlotte Dujardin win the Individual Gold Medal with her horse Valegro. Britain had never won Gold medals in Olympic Dressage before .
In East London there are people who live on house barges. On the other side of the world, in Cambodia, people also live on the water.
Village Tonle Sap lake
Tonle Sap Lake Cambodia, where even small black cats live on the water.
In Kew Gardens a glass creation by Chihuly is on the water.

Thank you John for this challenge I had a good time finding photos for it. If you would like to see other responses to this challenge click here for John’s site Journeys with Johnbo.

Great entrance! Houses on lakes and rivers are fascinating. My ex-husband, we’re still friends, lives on a houseboat in FL. I don’t think I could do that, I like when the floors aren’t moving, but it is fascinating. I enjoyed your post.

Thanks for commenting Maria. I don’t think I could live on a barge or housboat either. Glad you enjoyed the post though.

Cool post, as usual, Anne. Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix had Chihuly’s work displayed throughout the entire expansive grounds a few years ago. Incredible!

It was a spectacular exhibit. There are a few permanent pieces installed. 😍

The one at Kew was so good and Kew is a very large botanical garden with glass houses as well. They had the sculptures outside and inside the glass houses. It is lucky that for you there are some permanent pieces. I think at Kew they are all gone.

I love the comparison of the barges in London and Cambodia. That tiny black cat is adorable!
It must have been thrilling to watch Charlotte DuJardin and Valegro perform in the Olympics. I also like the smiley photo of you with your souvenir Union Jack . . . as for the glass creation at Kew – I can only say that it’s weird and wonderful. 😀
I must follow your link later on tonight to see other people’s pictures. It’s so fascinating to see what comes up.

Cambodia was an amazing trip. And those London Olympics were so much fun. The dressage was breathtakingly exciting. 22,000 people at the final day and at least 18,000 of them were British so you can imagine the eruption of cheering and emotions when Charlotte won.

Talk about around the world: The Chihuly glass display was in our local botanical garden several years ago. 🙂

Interesting images from around the world, Anne. I didn’t know there were homes on the water in London. That gentleman and the cat on the lake in Cambodia is a great photo study. Thanks for joining in on my challenge.
