Spots and Dots LAPC #148

Spots? Dots? When I saw that Lens Artist Ann-Christine had given us the topic of spots and dots I thought: “Well, there is no possibility of me finding something horse related for this challenge”. I thought I would not be able to respond with anything this week. Then…. I walked past the wash stall and …..there was Carly. He has amazing spots. So once he was washed up his owner took him out for some grass and I was able to snap some photos of his spots with my phone.

Here’s Carly!

Here is a closer look at his spots.

Thanks to Carly and his owner Rochelle I was able to respond to Ann Christine’s challenge. Carly is a KWPN (Dutch Warmblood)-Thoroughbred cross .He is not an Appaloosa or a Knabstrupper who are spotted horses. A terrific find for the challenge Anne! If I saw only Carly’s leg I’d have thought it was a giraffe!! A beautiful creature indeed!

Yes Carly is certainly an unusual colored horse. But very eyecatching!

Looks like Carly has the sabino gene with those lovely long lacey stockings. We have a sabino mare at the yard as well, and she has the same lacing/spotting down one side of her blaze. It’s the cutest thing ever!

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply to your comment. This is an interesting idea, the sabino gene, Carly has some spotting on one hind leg and a bit on his face as well but that front leg is the most defined. Thanks for this comment!

Ooh so pretty! I’ve never seen spots like that unless it’s a paint horse or appy! Carly is BEAUTIFUL!! ❤️🐴

He is an unusual colored horse isn’t he! He and his owner are now retired from competitive riding but they like to go on trail rides. Biasini and I will be able to shown them the trails.

That’s a fun response to the challenge, well done. And I’m happy to learn that there’s a breed called a “Knabstrupper,” had to look that up, and it seems like I like any and all things Danish.

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Well Robert i am delighted to know inhave introduced another horse breed to you. Many thanks for reading and commenting.

I admit to being a fan of horses with chrome. Those are nifty spots on Carly. Fun post!

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Well Carly has lots of chrome. His owner has him in the wash stall washing those legs most days!😄
