Grackles can sometimes be a bit annoying, when they’re in a noisy mob, at dawn, but the colors and iridescence in your shot are amazing

I have heard them being very noisy in Florida and also in the Yucatan. But up here I do not hear anything from them. I wonder if this is because they are Canadian grackles? 🤣

He’s beautiful! I don’t know if Tennessee has them… I feel like I have seen them before, but who knows!
-
I have seen them in Florida but down there they are very noisy and these ones here are pretty quiet. Thsnks for commencing.

Such beautiful glistening colors!

Yes! The sunlight just caught the lights in his feathers. Thank you for commenting Irene.

Well isn’t he a beauty?! Be is so black he’s blue! Great catch Anne.

I saw him at our feeder as part of my Feederwatch project that I do for Birds Canada on the weekends. It was a serendipity that the sun was right and he posed perfectly. My camera is always at hand in case a bird gives me a pose. Thanks for commenting Tina.

I thought that might be the case Anne – a nice reward for your commitment.

BEAUTIFUL bird!!
-
This is a fantastic capture and the bird is new to me.

Common grackles usually gather with starlings and red winged blackbirds and brown headed cow birds. The sunlight just caught this grackle’s feathers for this photo. Also all the birds are coming into their breeding plumage for the male birds so they are all the more handsome!

Grackles are really beautiful!
I love seeing them at my feeders. I know people don’t really care for them or Blue Jays, but I enjoy both. -
As annoying as they can be, the colour is spectacular!
-
We have a lot of red winged black birds and a few starlings and these grackles. But so far the grackles are quite silent. I remember them in Florida being very loud and chatty.
-
Same here. The starlings seem to be dominating right now, but grackles can be bullies too.
-
The blackbird groups are all a bit more aggressive and flap about at each other more than other smaller birds. Also it is coming into breeding season and I think that may add to the bullying!😄
