Is It Only One Year Ago?

Just one year ago I had spent the weekend showing at White Fences in Loxahatchee Florida. The USEF had announced that all horse shows would be cancelled going forward due to Covid 19. Remember when we used to give Covid a number? There was to have been one more show for the White Fences Championship Series but with the cancellation of shows the series was at an end. So Carmen Franco, one of the lynchpin figures of the Championship series, scrambled to add up the scores and points. When she had done it Biasini and I were the Reserve Champions in the FEI Freestyle Amateur Division. What a great way to end the show season.

Biasini and me with my Florida coach Lou Denizard. Lou is holding my bridle bag prize and a bag of goodies from Tobias Saddlery.

When I look at this photo is seems like it was a very long time ago. Shows are still uncertain in Canada due to Covid. But I think I will get down that centerline again one day!

I also can’t believe it was a year ago too. I have certainly missed the shows. I was planning to attend ridden and Inhand showing through last year with my boy, but this has now delayed. Hopefully we can get some shows on this year. Some have been cancelled but others seem to be hopeful they will go ahead.

I am also hopeful. This EHV outbreak is worrying but I hope it will get under control. Thanks for leaving a comment!

Yes of course. We don’t have to many cases in England at the moment thankfully, but yes quite worrying in case it increases then obviously shows will cancel for safety too.

I hope you will not have an outbreak in the UK. We have some cases here but only a few. Still it is a worry.

    Nice ribbon.

Agreed, it seems so long ago. Definitely, a different atmosphere. The one concern my daughters have about competing this year is the reckless rush back to what is presumed to be normal. The vaccine makers have all agreed they cannot guarantee more than six months of protection. So, if you were vaccinated in January, like my daughters were (because of med school), they would need a booster or another full vaccination in July. On that front, they haven’t figured what do yet. Moreover, there is a lot more uncertainty compared to last summer when the season was partially restarted.

It’s very hard to know what to do. Our vaccine roll out is glacial slow. There are a couple of shows I’d like to do in the summer but I’m not counting on it.

Congratulations again and it does seem like a long time ago. I feel sad how this last year has affected us all 😢 in one way or another but there’s hope that things will regain footing and get back to some normalcy! 🐴❤️ Before you know it you will be riding that centerline again!!
