And finally SHEDDING BLADE courtesy of Biasini’s fur starting to SHED. Biasini has a trace clip so the top part of his body has lots of longer winter weight hair. Now that the days are getting longer, here in the north, his body clock tells him spring is coming and then the winter hair starts to shed out. Here is a photo by Lexi Bradbury that shows his longer hair. That hair is starting to shed and the long hair on his legs is shedding also.
This is a naturally occurring process but to maintain a good shiny coat I use a soft flexible curry and rub him in a circular motion. This brings up all the loose hairs and then I use a shedding blade to remove them from his coat. The shedding blade has a slightly serrated edge and this removes any loose hair. And yes we all wear masks in the barn!
