Emotions! Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #131

For this Lens-Artists challenge, to show photos of “emotions”, I am choosing several photos from the World Equestrian Games in 2018. I had media accreditation for the WEG 2018 This enabled me to get a good spot ringside to take photos. These riders have just finished their tests. The release of the tension and the pressure of a competition as important as this one is immense After a good ride they are HAPPY! And PROUD of their horses.

For the coaches and fellow team riders the tension is palpable as they watch a member of their country’s team ride their test. They are anxiously hoping for a good result.

The gold medal is on the line. Was your ride good enough? Yes! You know it is. This is a moment of PRIDE, and SATISFACTION ( For both horse and rider!)

The medals. The podium. The victory. JOY

Finally, my daughter and grandson. LOVE

This is my response to Lens-artists challenge #131 from Patti. Thank you Patti for this lovely challenge.

These are all wonderful examples of humans and their horses’ feelings and emotions. Also loved the spectators’ anticipation and anxiousness…look at their faces and hands, their body positions. Well done catching all these moments! Your daughter and grandson you have caught in a lovely moment of closeness and love!

The range of emotion on the winner’s podium, it is all there. My daughters find it difficult to describe. If anything, they’re glad and happy for their horses. Nice one of your daughter and grandson. 🙂

On the 2021 schedule, the girls are tentative for Southern California in June. The difference will be the plan to take 9 horses, professionally moved. Odyssey will be making his debut on the big stage. They know about Elizabeth’s 15-start, 15-win streak from Saratoga, and she plans to keep it going with 20 starts. They haven’t decided on a “warm-up” show. Of course, it’s contingent on them getting COVID under control out there.

I wish your young women all the best for a CA show season. And I hope they will reconsider if Covid is still rampant there. This morning the COC has announced that it believes Canadian athletes will be safe going to the Olympics in Tokyo. I was very disappointed in this. The Games are only 6 months away and support staff would have to be there even earlier. Maybe they will give all declared athletes vaccinations. That will go over well with other people here in Canada where our vaccine roll out has been slow, and insufficient even for the most vulnerable. But enough from me! Glad you liked my photos.🙂

They’re waiting until the “drop-dead” deadlines to submit their show applications and stall applications, which is in May. CA would really have to turn things around; it is the closest to a killing ground to put it bluntly. What’s going on is that CA has its own COVID variant. They don’t know if the vaccines will work or not. Here in Colorado, I looked it up on how to sign up for a vaccine on the state public health web site. There is little to no information. Combined with a shortage of vaccines along with the UK variant spreading here, it just doesn’t look good at all.

        1. anne leueen Avatar

You are not alone. It is not good here either. We now have the UK variant sweeping through long term care homes. Some days it is hard to be optimistic but I keep on trying

Hi, Anne. What a great collection! I love the range of emotions, too, for both the horses and the riders. And your last image was the “icing” on the cake!

Thank you Patti. The WEG is a very big deal in the horse world. So for the riders having a good ride beings a rush of emotion after that final salute. The photo of my daughter and Grandson is such a good one I had to include it.

      1. pattimoed Avatar

Of course! You’re proud of them!

Love this photo challenge and all that you shared!! The horses and riders faces are priceless! ❤️ But your daughter and grandson, my favorite!! 💞

    1. anne leueen Avatar

I had to include that photo. My grandson can be quite a little imp at times but in this photo he is a cherub who really loves his Mum.

Excellent examples of heartfelt emotion Anne – both from the riders and the horses. They are both so handsome as they together take the stage for their performances. Well captured indeed. And of course your little grandson with his mom is precious. I hope you’re able to see them these difficult days. have you been able to get or schedule your shots yet?

    1. anne leueen Avatar

The vaccine roll out here is a mess. They opened up a bit vaccination center in Toronto at the Convention center and now have to close it down because they do not have enough vaccines! I think that as I am over 70 I may get my shot by the late spring. We are also in a lockdown here now so we cannot go to visit our daughter and Grandson. They live 2 hours away and it is an easy drive but not possible right now . Ah well… it is what it is! I’m glad you liked the post and photos.

So many riders doesn’t let their horse know they are proud of it after a good test and take it for granted. I’m so glad you found these good examples. The horses faces clearly show that they can read the feelings of their humans!

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Yes they do know and all these riders have given their horses a big pat after the final salute to the judge..
