The Enchanted Forest!

After Christmas I took Biasini out for a ride in the snow. We had a good layer of fresh snow, which is ideal as it gives good traction for the horse to walk. My husband and our little dog, June, came too. It was much tougher going through the deep snow for them. Sometimes Biasini and I would stop, turn around to see them, and wait for them to catch up.

You can see from the tracks, in the photo, that someone had been along the trail on cross country skis. Getting up the hills would be hard work on skis. Biasini managed the hills no problem! The forest was so still and beautiful. On another day I took Biasini out for a ride around the big paddocks at the front of Oakcrest Farm. That was also a lovely day with small snow flakes drifting gently to the ground . These days are such a wonderful winter gift. If we have freezing rain and ice I cannot take Biasini out as it is too slippery. But fresh snow….we are off to the forest! Here is a video from the day my husband and little June came with us. Why not join me, via the video, for a walk in the enchanted snow forest. .

It is. I have seen in your posts that you live in a place where you get some snow!

I certainly did! I’m 67, Anne, and haven’t ridden since my teens. Just lately I feel a tremendous need to get back on a horse . . . so I can hardly wait for things to be safe enough to go to the riding stables.

You can do it. I had 30 years when I did not ride and then picked it up again.

Nothing quite like the beauty and serenity of snow. This isn’t like your typical winter in Florida….but quite special nonetheless!

I am enjoying it Sandy. The snow is so beautiful. Maybe by the middle of March I will be fed up with it but not now!

Lovely! One of my own best riding experiences was having my husband walk with me while I rode my pony on a county park path on a gorgeous Fall day. Good times for sure. What a wonderful experience for you to enjoy your Winter wonderland and share with the rest of us.

I am determined to make the most of the winter here. We have been going to Florida for the past 13 years but not this year due to Covid. I am finding the snow rides enjoyable and very calming.
