This is what I did today!

The Covid numbers in Ontario are not great. The Provincial government announced they are imposing a lockdown on the entire province. Or maybe just on the south of the province. Or maybe not a complete lockdown just increased restrictions. Or maybe it will be like the lockdown in the spring and the barns will all be closed and I will not be riding. Or maybe it won’t be like that. Whatever it is going to be it will start on Dec. 26 and 12:01 am.

What? If the numbers are bad and the hospitals are under stress then why let Christmas go unchecked. People will be all over the province, visiting indoors and exchanging virus molecules. I reached a point today when I just thought: “I’ve had it. I can’t deal with any more of this.” So I went our for a ride in the forest. I went along our favorite trail , the goat trail.

As we walked through the snow I thought; “I have the best horse. I can take him out in the snow, on his own, and he helps me to restore my sanity and equilibrium .”

That is what I did today.

You are blessed to have that escape. We live in rural Ontario, so finding a quiet path or drive along the river is easy. It means a lot. Hope we all get pass this time health in tact.

AWW! So very thankful for our ponies. 💖🐴 You are very blessed to have a horse that can go out on his own and you can ride in the beautiful forests on the goat trail. Enjoy that peace and tranquility as it transports you into a calm and reassuring existence in this crazy world of ours right now. Sending you a virtual HUG, hang in there. And give your sweet boy a carrot for me. ❤️🐴🥕

You definitely have a very special horse there- you get to enjoy him both in and out of the show ring! Hoping any restrictions don’t interfere with your continued riding.

That’s what I do – the dogs and I go outdoors where we are lucky enough to live in areas where we won’t see another soul. We escape the chaos for a while and enjoy the peace and beauty.

Goat trail looks awesome and what a great way to decompress and center! And your horse is a great companion
    😊🎄🎄🎄

He is a great companion. He knows when I am in a mental spin and he can take me out on the trails and help me decompress. Thanks for your comment.

Animals that are so in sync with us are a gift – and I don’t follow many bloggers with horses – maybe under ten – and I recently watched a great documentary and thought if you because it was near the time you hosted the kens-artist challenge – I’ll be back to share the name of it – it was all about a special relationship

        1. anne leueen Avatar

Thank you. It is a great gift to have a relationship with a horse. Very different from a relationship with a dog . If you find the name of the documentary let me know.

            Hi!
I keep a journal with some of the shows I watch (sounds silly but I started it this year to maybe use the shows for writing later)
Anyhow – found it – the documentary is called Harry and Snowman and you ha e to watch it if you get a chance – snow wonderful – I mean “so” hahah

YES! I know this one. That horse was amazing. He knew what he was destined for with his owner. Thanks for the reminder. I will look at it again.

It’s the best thing you could do.

I think it’s worse everywhere, but some countries/states ignore the figures. U.K. is really bad.

The numbers are going up. I will still be working , which is a good thing. Go out and enjoy nature. It is the best thing you can do.

It is the best thing to do. I am lucky to be able to do it and there is something about being on the back of a horse that restores a healthy perspective on life. Thanks for commenting.

It seems that everywhere it is difficult. Good to know you are still working. 😀

It’s all good if I have a job. The rest is an annoyance.
