This is my third post about Canadian dressage riders who usually go to Florida for the winter season to train and compete. For some the situation with Covid in Florida and the closure of the Canadian border to all but essential travel has caused them to make the decision to stay home in Canada. Olympian Megan Lane has made her decision. I asked her the same three questions I have asked the other riders: Are you going to Florida to compete? How did you arrive at that decision? Do you have any concerns about going or not going?
Here is Megan’s reply.
I am going to Florida because I have a horse that could be a prospect for the Canadian Dressage Team if the Tokyo Olympics go ahead. I also have two other horses that I would like to get out to some shows. I want them to start to build a show resume. I expect that the organizer of the shows will have good safety precautions in place for Covid. Also, I intend to be very, very cautious and safety aware.
Fellow Olympians Belinda Trussell and Megan Lane often work together to help each other with the horses they are riding. The featured photo for this post is one I took when Megan had come to Oakcrest farm to work with Belinda.
