An Uneventful Forest Tailride.

This week I made the decision to only ride on the forest trails that were on the Oakcrest Farm property and not venture onto the York Regional Forest trails after our rather exciting time there the week before. For the whole story you can read about it from Biasini’s point of view. If you already know the story then read on.

The two women who stepped aside to let us pass were wearing long dresses that looked to me like saris. They wore jackets on the top of the saris as it was a cold day. Two of the young men, at the top of the hill, were dressed in dark trousers and jackets. The other young man was dressed entirely in red: red trousers, red long sleeved shirt and a red skirt . The fabric had gold decorations on it. He had a sword, that he waved above his head, while jumping up and down. Was he proving that he could defend the two young women from the horses?

No one I know has an answer to this. All of the young people looked like they could be of East Indian descent. Could this have been a wedding party? If anyone reading this post knows or has any ideas please let me know in the comments below.

But this week Biasini and I had a calm and quiet walk through the Oakcrest forest and the only sounds were the rustling of leaves moved by Biasini’s hooves. It was a very refreshing ride

Biasini responds well to going out to the forest and the training lessons we do in the days after are always better for it.

It is so pretty there. Almost like my most recent adventure with my Lito!

So glad you had a lovely uneventful ride Anne! Many years ago we rode in Hyde Park and while most people were sensible seeing the horses there was one grown up man racing a remote control car! Thankfully we managed to sit deep and stay on board – we could laugh about it afterwards and gave the horses extra carrots 🥕🥕

Oh my! That would have been spooky for the horses. I think riding in Hyde Park would be very nice.

It was lovely riding there, especially early in the morning. We rode a few times with horses from Hyde Park Stables in the late nineties 🧡

A few years ago I tried to find a stable that would have horses for group rides or any rides in the park but the only remaining one had closed. I know that the horse guards have civilian riders to exercise the horses at the Kensington barracks. I have considered applying for.that through a friend who is a retired Guardsmen. Perhaps once the Pandemic has retreated. I will do it.

Though not having any idea about that, my thought is why one has to have a real sword even though for a party. Love this picture shared maa.

It has been suggested that it was a wedding and the young man in red may have been the groom. I have no clue about the sword. Thanks for commenting Subbashini!

So happy you both had an uneventful trail ride after an “unplanned confidence challenge”. Don’t let a scary experience keep you out of the more adventurous trails, the “Big Wide Outhere” is a beautiful if scary place. Granted I’m a distance rider, so dealing with human and natural experiences is part of our training routine 🙂

On a side note, it sounds like a wedding party of some kind you stumbled upon. Red is a color of good luck in many cultures esp the sword description. I’m sure they are still talking about the horses that “blessed” their day!

I would like to think they felt the horses had blessed them. I think our horses reacted well and although they spin round they did not bolt or run off. I love the forest hacking and will continue undaunted. Thanks so much for your comment.
