Today our Grandson , Silas , went back to school and he is starting Grade 1. This day was an acclimatizing day and school proper will start next week
Our daughter wrote on Facebook about how she felt today and how she felt about him and her two step-daughters returning to school in this time of Covid. Here is what she wrote.
So many mixed emotions today as Silas starts Grade One. I’ve said to many friends and colleagues over the past 6 months that this time at home was like the maternity leave I never took. And as much as I’ve complained about balancing working from home, with having three kids home each day, I’ve honestly had the time of my life. And I’m beyond sad that it’s coming to an end, and simultaneously hopeful that this is the beginning of our lives returning to “normal”.Today I’m thinking of all the mamas and daddy’s and grandmas and grandpas and aunties and uncles who have had to make difficult/impossible decisions over the past month about today. I’m hoping you know that regardless of the choice you made, it’s the right one. I know that although right now I feel scared, anxious, sad, hopeful, excited and nervous, we made the right choice for us. We test ran his school entry on Tuesday night, he’s in the purple cohort. Borrowed a shirt from his sister, and ready to go! 
Our girls also start school this week, and will have their first day from our house on Tuesday. 
Our daughter reported that he had a “fantastic” day. His teacher is ” very pretty “and “very old”. This means she is about 30!🤣🤣
