Well Dear Humans we horses knew they were coming. The Humans who have been looking after us were talking about the Oh Ners coming back and how there were going to be restrictions because of the Vye Rus. I was excited! My Ma Leueen would be coming.
I heard her voice when I was out in my paddock. Barn Manager Carl had just served lunch hay so I was busy eating. Ma Leueen came into the paddock and said I had to go with her back to the barn. What ? What about my hay? I gave her a look and she gave me a look right back and said: “There is a schedule now. I can’t ride any old time I feel like it. Our time is now!” So I left my hay and went with her back to my stall.
Ma Leueen did all my grooming and tacking up in my stall. That is different.She told me that the Vye Rus means that humans have to be very careful about the germs. The germs can live on all kinds of things like lead shanks and cross ties. But she told me that horses don’t get the Vye Rus so I don’t have to worry about the germs. Well, that’s a relief.
Ma Leueen got up onto the mounting block. I thought she had mounted up so I started to move off. Whoops! Ma Leueen barked at me and said I had to remember she was a Gerry Atrick. Who? I didn’t know who she was talking about so I gave her a look. She gave me a pat and said: “You have to remember I’m a Senior. I don’t get on as fast as Coach Belinda or Assistant Trainer Lynsey. You have to stand still and wait for me” I have to admit I had forgotten about that. Then off we went for a nice walk in the forest.
The next day we went up to the big grass field and trotted and cantered around up there. I like that big field.
There is a loop that goes behind the trees and that’s fun as we can canter around that and then gallop up onto the big field. I was happy to hear Ma Leueen say we were going to go round the loop.
The third time Ma Leueen came to ride she took me up to the outdoor arena. I had to work! I wanted to be as good as I could be so Ma Leueen would know how hard I have been working with Coach Belinda and Assistant Trainer Lynsey. So I did my best. Later I heard Ma Leueen tell Coach Belinda that I had been very good.
So things are a bit different but I’m glad Ma Leueen is here. Till next time Dear Humans.
