FOTD: Star Magnolia

We have had a cold spring here in Ontario. But, at last, a week ago the Star Magnolia was able to open its blooms.

Sadly last weekend the temperatures plunged to record lows and we had snow! This decimated the poor Star Magnolia blossoms and now they are brown and wilted. I did take a photo of them in this sad state but that is not how I want to remember them so I will not post it.

Warmer weather is forecast for this weekend and some needed rain as well. Stay well and stay strong everyone.

The flowers are so beautiful it is sad to know it can’t stay long in cold, even we can’t stay fresh like those flowers in this hot summer

You will be happy to know that we have warmer weather now and the magnolia has some new blooms. 😃

What an interesting flower! We have a huge magnolia back home but has si different flowers!

We do not have the big magnolia trees here as I think our climate it too harsh. But these usually do well. The blossoms on ours got whacked with the cold but there are a few of the blossoms that had not opened and today with warmer temps and sunshine they are opening.

Our magnolias here often seem to get nipped in the spring, unfortunately.
    Stay well, Anne!

Cool! We have different magnolias here with bigger petals, but these are so cool!

There are some of the more tulip shaped trees here but we dont have the right climate for most of the magnolias.

That is what I would have thought.

Thank you Diana. It is a lovely shrub with the delicate blooms. Ours is pruned and stands about 10 ft high and six feet in width. The leaves are shiny green and it is an attractive shrub.

The blossoms look like high school pom-poms, sorry to hear they were gone so quickly. But we really seem to be getting in to the warmer weather now, for keeps.

We also have warmer weather promised for tomorrow. 😃 Thanks for commenting Robert.
