Recently I was looking at photos of a trip we made to Vietnam and Cambodia, several years ago, and remembering what a wonderful trip it was. So I was delighted to see that this week the Tuesday Photo Challenge from Dutch Goes the Photo was Travel. Sharing photos is a way to travel when we cannot travel.

Lovely photos! I agree with you that an upside of the current situation is that it gives us time to reflect upon our past experiences. Vietnam and Cambodia are both wonderful places. I was living in Vietnam for a year previously teaching English and absolutely loved it. I also took a short trip to Cambodia, and saw many of the places you included in your photos. great photos – the tree is amazing & conjures so many ideas about nature…
The jungle took over all the ruins in Angkor. They left one place with the trees growing over the ruins to show what it had been like. Interestingly the photo made me think of how nature is reclaiming parts of the world: clear skies in Los Angeles, dolphins in the Venetian lagoon, elephants on the streets of cities in India. I’ve always wanted to visit Angkor Wat, it looks fascinating. You’ve got some striking photos here, and you’re right, this is a great time for armchair traveling, thank you.
I had wanted to see Angkor Wat for decades but there were so many problems in Cambodia. On the trip we also went to the Killing Fields. That was a harrowing experience. I wanted to drop onto my knees and cry.There is a real atmosphere of terrible human suffering there. But the temples at Angkor are wonderful to visit so put that onto your bucket list.

Indeed. I have foudn the Far East to be a place that really opened my eyes. I have also been to China twice and the first trip, in 1980 , the country had only opened to tourists the year before. That was like going to another planet. Seriously. Every day i was seeing things that I had NEVER seen before. Also it was the old school Maoist China.I went back 3 years later and there were amazing changes taking place.

While most people here crave sunlight and getting a little tan, others avoid it as much as they can, because a whiter skin is a sign of wealth…
In India cosmetics that promise whiter skin are big business! Interesting as in the West it took skin cancers to ward us off getting our skins darker. Thanks for commenting!
