Simplicity

Day 13 of the 14 day self isolation. We went for a walk down the road to a friends property. There is an old road that we walked along. Towards the end of the used part of the road the forest is taking possession again.

We are fortunate to have places like this, trails, to get out and walk and see nature. I agree with Newton. I do think nature is pleased with simplicity.

    Lovely photos. Lovely attitude to an isolation that is truly stagnating. Nature is so generous. Doesn’t matter that Covid19 is punishing us, Nature is going ahead as planned. There are leaves and there arefloers and it is all, beginning.

      The power of nature to replenish itself is what struck me when I saw the disused part of that old road. Those little trees are happily growing and will continue. Thank you for your comment.

      What is wrong with these people??? My son in London goes out and runs in the evening. He says he will keep on doing that for exercise until they order a complete shut in. He has a premonition that this will happen!

        .My daughter reckons it will. They live in a tiny village, with fields all around them. They never see anyone walking behind their house. It would be sad if they couldn’t go back there.😪

    Nice shots and perfect for the theme.
    I’m wondering if that that quotation is a modern paraphrase. It might be a rephrasing of “Nature does nothing in vain when less will serve, for Nature is pleased with simplicity…”. That’s longer, but it’s also nice. I keep finding out, that a lot of Bible sayings I’ve heard, are paraphrases, because the olde tyme language from the King James Bible can be kind of hard to understand. And simplicity really is a virtue!

      You may be right. I googled and went to a quote site and found it. I was reading Hamlet this morning and the complexity of the language was gobsmacking!😳 I need to expand my reading to more classics!

        When I actually see the plays, I can follow 90% of it, but when I try to read it, holy cow 1/2 of it is unknown.

        And “gobsmacking” is such a great word! I wish they used it in the U.S., we don’t have anything that colorful here.

      On looking at it again and considering Newton I think it is highly unlikely he used the term “dummy”.

        I agree, seems like he would’ve used “dolt” or “simpleton” or some other old-fashioned term. I tried to look up when “dummy” came into use, and it looks like in Newton’s day, it might’ve meant “a person incapable of speaking.” It’s just like Sherlock Holmes saying “Elementary, my dear Watson,” I guess he never actually said that exact thing, in any of the stories.
