A river runs beneath the ice.

This week Amy gave us the LensArtists challenge “A River Runs Through It”. We are on a 14 day Covid-19 isolation after returning from Florida to Canada and I suddenly thought “Wow! It’s Thursday! I am almost out of time for the challenge.” So here is my response.

Each day my husband and I go for an hour walk morning and afternoon. Today we walked on a friends’ land and it was beautiful. Here, beneath the ice there is water moving through this small lake. There is a river or stream there under the ice. You can just see the ice is starting to melt and break apart. Here are three different views.

On another small lake the territorial battle has begun. On the left you can see two swans and on the right circled in red there is a Canada goose. Every year swans nest on this lake in the reeds. Last year they raised four cygnets that survived to fly away in the fall. But in the spring there are always Canada geese that try to lay claim to this lake. In the 20 years we have been here they always give up and go elsewhere.

We have ten more days in isolation. Fortunately my husband and I get along well so no blood will be spilled or lives lost! And by the time we are finished the ice may be gone. Hope springs eternal.

Yes it may be some time yet, but the ice and virus will melt away.

We must remain optimistic despite the tsunami of difficult news and restrictions. 😊

Hope DOES spring eternal Anne – glad you’re safely back in Canada. The frozen waters are beautiful but hoping they thaw soon! We’ve entered a warmer season here which we hope will help to quell the spread of the virus – along with social distancing of course! Thanks for jumping in.

It is fun to jump in Tina. Today the sun had some warmth in it so I think the ice will be melting soon. Maybe by the end of next week it will be gone. Stay well!

When I was young and impervious to the cold I loved being out in the wetlands around here this time of year, watching water running under ice. I ended up wet myself more often than not but I didn’t care! Cheers for the swans…we have ENTIRELY too many Canada geese here and they are still protected so nothing to be done.

I think Canada geese are the least endangered species in the world. But no worries the swans always win and the geese go elsewhere. Last year was a good one as four of their five babies survived.

Thank you for sharing I have never seen a river run below the ice or even snow for that matter. It’s always sunny and warm where I live, makes me want to be there. Good to know that you’re doing well during the quarantine. Best of luck and stay safe! I wrote something during the isolation period myself and would love your review on it.

This was the warmest day we have had since we got home. The temps going forward are milder too. Not warm by any stretch but above freezing!

Nice photos, a river of ice. Stay safe and be well. (Better hide sharp objects, just to be sure.) 🙂

Will do that. Thanks for the reminder🤣

It’s a very pretty lake (probably even nicer when it’s thawed!) Go, Swans!

So glad you can walk, and do things together. Hubby had a bad day today, and his balance is off. Spent a long time taking care of him also.

Sorry to hear that Susie. But David and I did Zumba today in the living room we hooked my pc up to the big tv and danced away . We used your zumba links. So thanks for that
