The CDC in the US has advised the”elderly” to stay at home as much as possible to avoid the corona virus. And how old is “elderly”? Sixty! 60 years old. Well FGS that means at 70 almost 71 I must have at least one foot in the grave!
I am in denial about my age. I refuse to be called “elderly”. To me the”elderly” are those of very advanced age who are frail and physically diminished. There are also people of very advanced age who are not frail and are still going through life with gusto. It may well be the luck of the draw. Some people suffer from serious illness that takes away from their ability to be strong. Be that as it may, I hope that for however many years I live for, I will be able to be full of vigor and strength.
As I write this I am in “self isolation” on day 2 of 14 days required for everyone returning from outside Canada. My husband and I are fortunate to live in the country. We can walk and get some fresh air and exercise. We are close to the Oak Ridges Trail and so today we were out for an hour on that trail. Here are David and June at the start of the trail.
Farther along the trail opens out to a small meadow.
These trails are not maintained in the winter and so we could see tracks of other creatures who traverse on them. Here is a photo of wild turkey tracks on the left and June’s little paws on the right. There is another paw mark at the bottom right. Could be a coyote?
This afternoon we will be out again for a walk along the road. As you can see from this photo we are surrounded by farmland and not breaking any physical distancing rules from other people!
This virus is no respecter of age . Young and old have succumbed and people of all ages have died. Please respect the guidelines issued by your governments. Most of the sensible leaders in the world are calling for people to stay home. Stay safe and be well.
And just before I go….a friend told me that the term for a ‘senior’ woman is a Queen-Ager. So that is what I am . I’m a Queen-Ager!
