Well Dear Humans I have been working hard lately. Coach Belinda has been very rigorous in the amount of work she has been asking Ma Leueen to ask me to do. This week Coach Belinda is away and I thought I might get a break but no…. Ma Leueen arranged for Assistant Lynsey to give us a couple of lessons. And the weather has been hot let me tell you!
So here’s the thing. Assistant Lynsey wants us to do everything 100%. So she tells Ma Leueen, what to do at every one of my strides. She can talk really fast! But I don’t listen to her. I just shut that out. Why? Well because I have to listen to what Ma Leueen is saying. She’s not talking of course she is telling me what she wants me to do with her legs and her ankles and her heels and her hands and her fingers and her weight. That is how she tells me. Here is an example. We are going round a corner. Here we go…
I feel her right leg make a closer contact with my side. I must bend. Now I feel the left rein on my neck. I must get ready to turn. Now I feel her right ankle and a tick from her heel. I must bend more as we turn. The right leg is keeping me going and the left rein is asking me to move my shoulders to the right. Now the left leg has moved back a bit and is asking me to step sideways. Ah yes! We are doing a half pass. Then a change; both legs and both hands are equal. She wants me to go straight. Now the left leg is at my girth again and is asking me to go sideways but the right rein is telling me not to bend. Yes she wants shoulder in to the left. I’ve got it.
So there you have it. You see how much Ma Leueen is telling me! I have to be listening ALL the time.Ma Leueen listens to Assistant Lynsey but I listen to Ma Leueen and her signals to me. Now that you know what I was listening to here is a video of what we did and you can hear Assistant Lynsey talking. Assistant Lynsey says she is not used to taking video and she thinks it is not good enough but I told Ma Leueen it was fine for getting my point across. As you watch it you can think about all the things I was listening to!
