I’m not singing in this rain!

“Well, we have to stay positive. ” the chirpy young woman said as she served my bowl of split pea soup. I thanked her and agreed . Yes we must stay positive. But I did not feel positive. It was raining, again, and cold, again. A high of only 7 Celsius on May 13 is just wrong. And the fact that I was delighted that the soup of the day was split pea, a winter soup if there ever was one, was a clear indication that something about the weather is very much amiss.

We have had flooding to the north and to the east of where we live. Just about 5 minutes up the road there is a horse barn that has the driveway underwater. It looks like the barn and indoor arena are above water and the horses are out in a paddock, on high ground, with rain sheets on and lots of hay and water in troughs. But the low part of the property is a large lake. Fortunately the barn I ride at is on high ground and is not flooded. But the paddocks are awash with mud and large puddles.

Biasini has a bright orange rain sheet to wear and despite the fact that some people refer to him as a pumpkin he is always dry with that sheet on. Dry and warm. But he is not happy about this dreary and damp weather. Here is a video I took walking out to his paddock. Turn up the volume and you can hear me splodging through the mud to get to the paddock. You can see how Biasini feels about the weather.

I realize there are many places in the world suffering the effects of climate change far more than I am. I have a warm and dry house even if the driveway looks wet and the trees are still not showing any real signs of spring. I must stay positive. Spring will come. Or…we may just go straight to summer!

I probably wouldn’t sing either if it’s 7 degr. in May! But the nickname pumpkin made me smile:)

Glad you enjoyed it. It has warmed up now and the sun is shining today. It may not last but I’m enjoying it while it does.

Am a midnight owl and getting up late, so hubby just told me that it had been raining all morning! Am happy for you and your horse though that it’s not so cold anymore:)

Spring will come! I have experienced this…even though not recently. LOL. Your video made the muddy Sweden spring memories very clear. Hang in there. The sun will shine soon.

Biasini’s face says it … There many places need rain, other places got to much water. Hope sun will come soon for you guys.

Thank you Amy. The forecast is looking better . We have a dry and warmer day today so things are looking up. Biasininis out with no rain sheet and happily rolling in the mud.

Normally by this time of year I have traded my muck boots for muck shoes, but not this time. When I walk out to get my horse I have to make sure she walks at my pace not hers or else I risk getting my boots sucked off by the mud. Our barn is in a sandy area, so a couple of days of sunshine will dry up most of it to the point of being walkable, and the outdoor ring even rideable, but then it rains again…Farmers aren’t too happy either; it’s been way too wet and flooded to plant and they’re weeks behind schedule now.

      Same here for the farmers
We live on one acre that is on the corner of a 100 acre farm and there is farmland all around us on both sides of the road. It has been too wet to get in to disc the fields. But today it is dry and a bit warmer. I hope your boot sucking mud will dry up soon.

If that rain comes here we will feel happy, even in India the wheather is too hot. Today morning I saw this lovely video in YouTube,it is happy to watch.

I think in many places in the world they would love to have rain. If only we could send some of it from here where we have had too much! Happy to know you liked the video.

The weather is all over the place in the UK too, one minute way too hot for February/Easter and then really cold again. Very dry here.

Awe, I’ve walked in your shoes, literally, that was our very wet winter! Hopefully it will dry out soon and the sun will begin to shine! Praying for that soon as this crazy weather is difficult on us who so enjoy the outdoors with our horses! ❤️🐴🐎❤️

    1. anne leueen Avatar

We live in hope that spring will arrive .

I hope you dry out and warm up soon! We were in the 50’s with rain last week, and it could reach 90 tomorrow! Our springs are shorter each year. We tend to jump right into summer heat.

    1. anne leueen Avatar

      That may happen here too.

    Oh.. Stay safe, Anne..

I will. Today the sun has come out and no rain forecast till the afternoon.

I am positive we’ve had enough rain and mud for a while. But I love pea soup, that’s a great idea. And we’re supposed to hit 20 C. today, heatwave! 🙂

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Yes we are having the heatwave today as well but I do not think it will last. We have a long weekend here and that means the weather is unlikely to cooperate!

Aww, Biasini’s face says it all. There’s climate change affecting areas in so many ways. In Scotland we had more wildfires in the first four months of the year than during the whole of 2019 due to the dry and unseasonably warm weather. Here’s hoping better weather reaches you soon and that the rain will go where it is most needed. Staying positive helps! Much love to you both from all of us here 🤗💖🐎🥕

Thank you Xenia. Today we have some sun this morning but the afternoon forecast is for thunderstorm activity! But Biasini was out this morning with no sheet on. He was happy
