Time Passes….

This weeks challenge from Sunday Stills is Time. Time flies. Time stands still. Time passes. I have been spending time the past two weeks learning about things from a long time ago. Hundreds of years ago things were different . Horses wore armour and went into battles.

The Tower of London was begun by William the Conqueror in 1075. I stood in an office in the Tower and looking out the window I could see the modern creation of Renzo Piano, The Shard.  Time passes. Things change.

At Windsor Castle I looked out of a window, across a courtyard to the Long Walk. Last May after the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle they came up the long walk in a horse drawn carriage with crowds lining the sides of the road. The original castle was built in the 11th Century and is the longest occupied castle in Europe. Time passes.

For thousands of years the sun has gone down on the Thames river. The buildings on the banks of the river may change but the river runs on.The Thames is a tidal river and the tide comes in and goes out.  Time after time after time.

Time passes…and falls back with a return to standard time. Nice post of how time changes though things remain the same.

A beautiful post Anne and I love how London blends old and new – the city is constantly changing while the historic buildings and parks remind us of the past 🙂💖 xxx

Thank you Xenia. It is a wonderful place for the old and new side by side.

When I lived in London (many, many years ago) I used to like to think of the Vikings sailing up the river and pulling down London Bridge.

Haha,! That would have led to a different course of history. We are at Heathrow waiting for our flight home. Tia’s portrait had to be scanned in security and I showed the woman security guard the small picture on the outside and she loved it
She asked how I had got it done and I told her the whole story. So Tia is on her way to Canada now!

Oh that’s lovely. I am glad the mini-picture served its purpose. It was my husband’s idea to put one on the address labels to help with customs (and so people can see what they are getting). I hope you all arrive safely in Canada!!

We have just arrived. Tia came through the flight and customs no problem.
Do tell your husband it made a big difference to the security woman at Hearhrow. She was all smiles when she looked at the little photo.

That’s great to hear on both counts. I hope you are not too jet lagged!
