Not Lost, Just Wandering!

Not all those who wander are lost.” J.R.R.Tolkein

Today, Monday, October 22, 2018 I shall be setting off on a bit of a wander for a holiday in the “Old Country”.  While I am there I will be learning about arms and armor that was used for horses in “the old days”. I may see things like this.20181021_115733

But I want you to know that I have not been skiving off and just watching other people ride at Masterclasses and lessons. Biasini and I have been hard at work. Here is a video of the canter tour from the Inter 1 that my coach Belinda Trussell took about a week ago.

As always it is progress not perfection and I learn from the videos the things I need to focus on to improve. But for now…I’m off on holiday with my husband for a couple of weeks. If I find any armored horses in my wanderings I will let you know.

Horses have to put up with a lot from humans, imagine the weight of all that armour and then having to go into battle!

I have always assumed the horses were big draft type horses. We are taking a tour with an arms and armouries expert to Windsor Castle and the Tower and some other places so I hope to learn a lot more.

Where is this ‘Old Country?’ Have a great visit!

The old country is England. My Father was English and he always called it the “old country”.

I hope you enjoy your travels, and see lots of interesting stuff from the days of knights. You probably could have taught them some useful techniques for jousting! Suits of armor can be real works of art, I always make a bee line for them in museums. Fare thee well! 🙂

Thank you Robert. I am looking forward to the tour we will be taking with an arms and armories expert. I will be posting about what we see. I appreciate your good wishes.
