I just received my Media Guide for the FEI World Equestrian Games Tryon 2018! As well was the media specific information there were some very interesting numbers.
In the USA: 8 million people ski, 23 million pick up a tennis racquet, 25 million golf and 27 million people ride a horse annually!!
On Facebook there is a huge number of people who list “horses” as their interest in their core Facebook profile. Exactly how many….. 129 Million!!!
The first World Equestrian Games was in Stockholm Sweden in 1990. There were 421 participants.
1994 The Hague Netherlands…..456 participants
1998 Rome Italy …… 557 participants
2002 Jerez Spain…… 561 participants
2006 Aachen Germany….640 participants
2010 Lexington Kentucky USA …..632 participants
2014 Normandy France…..1000 participants
2018 Tryon NC USA….. 1000 are expected.
I will be covering the Dressage competition next week at WEG. The number of dressage participants is large as on the first and second days the schedule starts at 8:45 am and finishes at 6:00 pm!
