Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians! With the tempest of tariffs, trade wars and currency fluctuations I am grateful that there are several products that are made right here in Canada that I like to use for my horse Biasini. So I am going to make an annual Canada Day repost of reviews. I did this last year and will post links with this post to the review updates from July 1 2017.
First of all I use several products by Omega Alpha. I think these are all excellent and have been thoroughly tested and tried before they were put on the market. I noticed in Florida this winter that two vets were now recommending Omega Alpha products for horses. Here is my review update from last year. Click here to read the Omega Alpha post.
Next up is Equus Soap Bit Balm. I never put a bit in Biasini’s mouth without this.
Finally Ecogold saddle pads. I have used these pads for several years and they asked me to review pads specially designed for hot weather.
All of these products are available in the US and to the best of my knowledge are not subject to any of the new tarrifs.
HAPPY CANADA DAY!
Happy Canada Day! a few days late at this point 🙂

No worries. I’m happy to know we still have friends south of our border.

There will always be friends here. We know the insults that have been fired at us come from one source.

That’s really good to know 🙂

At the end o the American Civil War 1865 Canada was not unified country. But the stresses of the US Civil War and the stresses between the US, Canada and Britain caused leaders in the east of what is now Canada to decide they had to unify, break from being a British colony, and not be taken over by the US and form a nation. In 1867 the Canadian confederation was formed . So every year on July 1 we celebrate the “birth” or start of the country of Canada.

Thank you. I hope you will be able to visit Canada as well. It is a big country and I would advise coming in the summer as the winters are very cold in most parts.

Happy Canada day – I notice that in “Handmaidens Tale” it’s the land of the free! Margaret Attwood was presumably inspired by Canada’s abolition of slavery in 1834, thus becoming a magnet for “runaway” slaves from the USA.

indeed! Our anthem refers to the true north strong and free. The Underground railroad was a route of escape for many slaves. However during the Civil War there were a number of Confederate supporters who holed up in Toronto and plotted distractions on the Great lakes to draw the Union soldiers and armaments away from the south and weaken them y having to fight on two fronts. Owever their attempts were not successful. What was a success is that it spurred Canada to form a confederation and the nation of Canada was born in 1867. And that is what we celebrate today!

That’s interesting. I knew about the underground railway for escaped slaves but did not know about the confederate supporters trying to use Canada as a second front during the civil war. Fascinating.

Yesterday we hit 37 Celsius and the same is expected for today. The humidity is making it feel like the mid 40s. But…hey…..I’m not complaining. I like heat and would rather have this than the cold!!

YES! Years ago when I was traveling in Australia someone talked about making it through the summer in Central Australia and I thought ” that’s the climate I’d like better than ‘making it through the winter'”! 💐🌸🐴😃
