Yes, and I also think it’s wonderful how those who love doing a certain thing, even more, adore it, how they so enjoy the effort of it all, ups and downs, no longer feeling it as effort as such but somehow basking in it, just as another kind of breathing, a way of life, all the work and obvious repetitiveness. That Hollywood mash up is one of my favorite videos. I stumbled across it on FB a year or so ago and have watched it a dozen times.

Me too! I think it is brilliantly edited to fit the dance moves to the music. I love those old films with the song and dance routines anyway and the mash up is terrific.

In terms of the rhythm and timing it is the rider and the music will have been chosen to suit the horse’s natural tempo. But horses can like or dislike certain music. So it is best to play some of the music you want for the freestyle to make sure the horse is not upset by it. Good question Jo Ann!

I can’t speak for dressage horses, but like Anne said horses can like or dislike music.
My dad’s old Appaloosa had a thing for classic Bon Jovi (and whatever sounded similar enough) – every time one of his favorites came on the radio, he’d prance around the pasture – with the rhythm of the song!
My younger daughter’s Icelandic gelding has an inexplicable fondness for Wu-Tang-Clan. Possibly something about the beat tickling his tölt/flying pace senses?
There’s also some folk music from Iceland that intentionally imitates the four-beat gait – they sometimes play it at the barn and the little Vikings seem to like it.
