Monday Minstrel: Time for Treats!

When Clementine poses for photos she looks like this.

Or….like this.

clementine-013

But when she hears the treats box open she says:  “Mmmmm….do I hear the treats box opening?”

Then when she sees the treats being taken out of the box she says:” Pleeeeease can I have a treeeeeat?”

And her human Nancy Kleiner gives her some treats. “Thank you ,”says Clementine!

What a delightful Monday Minstrel post about treats! It’s heartwarming to see the joy and excitement these treats bring to your equine companions.
As I read through your lovely encounters with the horses and the tasty treats, I couldn’t help but think about how incorporating the best calming supplement for horses might create an even more enjoyable experience for both the horses and you. Treating them to calming delights could be a wonderful way to enhance their well-being and deepen the bond you share.
Thank you for sharing these heartwarming moments with your horses. Your blog is a treasure trove of equestrian stories and insights, and I’m looking forward to more lovely reads from Horse Addict!

My horse is quite calm and I’m not going to give him calming treats. But thanks for commenting.

Your horse reminds me of our dogs at snack time. A sure way to get attention.

Haha! Yes. Thanks for commenting. I like your dogs.

        Horses🐴 and dogs 🐺have lots in common… I think?

        1. anne leueen Avatar

          I agree!

    I love her horse whiskers!!

    1. anne leueen Avatar

They are good aren’t they. In dressage we do not clip off the whiskers. In Germany it is illegal for show horses to have their whiskers clipped! They need them to feel things as they can’t see the end of their nose and under their chin.

      1. Emma Cownie Avatar

Well I imagine that they serve the same function as they do for cats and dogs – sense the world around them. especially if you eye are on the side of your head and you cant see under your nose! So glad that you don’t clip them off in Dressage. Good for the Germans too.

        1. anne leueen Avatar

Agreed! And you are right about it being the same for cats and dogs. Probably squirrels too.

    Good powerful horse

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Yes! She is a Shire horse: big, strong and powerful. Thanks for commenting!

Is she the same, what you had before? The one you are moving from Florida if I am not wrong, sorry I have been inactive. Pardon my ignorance!

        1. anne leueen Avatar

Clementine is not my horse. She belongs to someone else and her trainer is a friend of mine from Indiana. She brings Clementine down to Florida during the winter. At the end of March she will take Clementine and her own horse back to Indiana and she will be ridden by the trainer and her owner. I just have one horse, Biasini, and we come to Florida for the winter and then go home to Canada mid April. No need to apologize for not being up to speed with all the comings and going! Thank you for commenting.

My pleasure and thanks for clarification. I remember your horse was different. That’s why I thought that probably you have one more.

That’s so nice to hear, that you have a caring community. So happy to read and know about it.

So during this stay, you charge them or they take care by themselves or their are other arrangements

          2. anne leueen Avatar

I have my horse at a full care stable. The staff do the feeds, the stalls and turn the horses out to their paddocks. I groom ( brush, bath, clip, etc) and tack up my horse and untack him before and after i ride. I ride five days a week and on the weekend i just go to visit and groom him and make sure he has nt Cuts, big bites etc and give him some carrots.

How fun! My best pictures of my horse are ones my sister took of me feeding him treats.

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Clementine make the best faces when she knows the treats are being offered. Thanks for commenting!

The enthusiasm horses have for the treats in life is inspiring! Your capturing Clementine’s moments of happiness is a delight!

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Thank you. Clementine makes the best faces when she wants treats. I agree with your comment they do love them. My horse gets a treat when i get on him. With both hips replaced i take a minute to clamber up and get settled and he has to stand and wait. Then he turns and looks at me and then he gets a treat. He won’t move off without that treat.

Is that horse as tall and solid as she seems in the photos? Wow she looks massive.

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Yes she is a VERY big girl. She is a Shire horse. They are heavy horses originally bred as work horses like the Clydes and Percherons.

      1. Katrin Avatar

I thought she looked like a draft type breed. Neat!

        1. anne leueen Avatar

Everyone at the barn loves her.
