Biasini Speaks: Invention of the Devil?

Sometimes I think it’s an Invention of the Devil. Other times I think it’s a Godsend.  My hay net, Dear Humans, that’s what I am talking about. My human , Ma Leueen, has just told me it is called a Nibble Net. Whatever…..!  This is what it looks like.

As you can see it has very small little squares and it does not deliver the hay in a profuse manner. Oh no, I have to pull the hay out from those very small little squares.  If I am really hungry and want to just gobble up my hay then the thing is an Invention of the Devil!  I have to put a lot of work into getting my hay.

Ma Leueen tells me it is better for me to eat slowly. Well, I have to admit, she is right. My ancestors were out grazing on the grassy steppes back in the day. There was no gobbling hay then.  My ancestors just nibbled and nibbled along all day long.  So with this constant eating our stomachs were made to have acid in them all the time. Now you humans are more like dogs or lions , your ancestors killed something and ate it and then went to sleep for hours afterwards. Your stomachs did not have to be producing acids and be ready to digest food.  So, for we horses, it is better if we can be eating slowly for a longer time.  That is what my hay, oh….. sorry….. my Nibble net is good for.

But here is the best thing about it.  We all get our hay at the same time. My neighbors Kahn and Mesanto  gobble up their hay and then they are standing around with nothing to do. But I am still eating Dear Humans. I still have lots of hay in my net.

“Biasini,” Khan says to me. “How come you still have hay? Are you getting extra?”

“No Khan, we all get the same amount.”

“But how come you’re still eating ?”

“My dear Khan, I just like to savor my hay and wash it down with a nice glass of Aqua Pura.”  When I say that he knows I’m just kidding . We horses drink from a water bowl not a glass.  He just laughs and shakes his head.  Then Mesanto chips in.

“Beebles, it is because you have that hay net thing?” he asks.

“Yes Mesi it is. It it pretty tricky getting the hay out so it takes longer for me to eat. ”

“Hmmm….” he replies with a nod.  “But it’s cool that you can still have hay when the rest of us are finished.”

“I know Mesi and I would share some with you but without opposable thumbs, like the humans have, I can’t get the net open.”

And then I just go back to nibbling on my hay.  I can nibble from the bottom of the net.

And I can pick up bits that have fallen out onto the floor.

It is in those times when everyone else is finished and I am still eating I think the net is a Godsend.   Don’t you agree Dear Humans?

Just imagine yourself eating in a pasture!

Thank you Avery Human. I shall try my best to do so.

You are not alone, B! Mine have to eat out of a small hole net also. It is hard for us humans too!

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Well please tell them i have sympathy for them. But perhaps like me they can have the satisfaction of having the hay last so much longer. The nights are not so boring!

        Yes!

Ah Biasini, I never eat slowly!! I feel your pain, but I also have tummy aches when i guts myself so perhaps your mum is right. Eat Slowly and Hay Nets are good for you with small holes.

thank you Mel Human for commenting. I am reconciled to the nibble net now. And it is a big plus that I still have hay when the others are finished and standing around bored.

How frustrating and still so good for you, Biasini! You look absolutely adorable❣️Your beloved Ma made some beautiful photos. I must get a nibble net like that for myself now. 😍😘

Thank you Dina Human for the compliment. But I’m not sure that humans are supposed to eat from a nibble net despite the fact that several humans who have read my blog post have mentioned it might be a good idea. Hmmm…..interesting. Humans can be funny sometimes.

Thank you Biasini, I love your hay net and your Ma is very smart! 🙂

Thank you! I think my human Ma Leueen is quite smart too….for a human!😃

Love this. It’s like finding that bit of discipline and then being so ecstatic when your moderation has provided for later.

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Exactly Sascha Human. That is what I have learned about the nibble net. I appreciate your understanding comment.

Love this! I think I may start using a Nibble Net for myself!

Hahahah! Biasini will have a good chuckle when i tell him that!

I agree that it’s a Godsend aswell, nibbling all day sounds rather nice! 🙂 xxx

Yes it is. I wonder what Dizzy would have to say about it. He gets to eat brownies and ginger biscuits of course so he already has snacks!

      1. dinosaursdonkeysandms Avatar

Dizzy said it’s an invention of the devil. Imagine having all that food sitting there and not being able to gobble it all down at once! But then, of course, she expects food to be constantly available. 🙂 🙂 xxx

        1. anne leueen Avatar

Well Dizzy is a very advanced and highly domesticated equine so she would not be happy with a restrictive net!!

          1. dinosaursdonkeysandms Avatar

I showed Dizzy your message. She agreed that she is highly advanced and thanked you for also noticing. 🙂 🙂 xxx

Gosh I never knew such things existed. Frustrating but keeping you entertained (and fed) all day long!

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Thank you Emma Human. I believe it is part of my job as a horse who blogs to let humans know how we horses live! Many thanks for your comment.

I am learning a lot from your blog, Thanks

Yes, Biasini, nibbling away all day is the thing to do. While watching the Super Bowl this Sunday, fans would be better off if their snacks were not so easily grabbed and gobbled down.!

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Thank you Sandy Human. I have heard humans talking at the barn about some very large Bowl. Ma Leueen says it involved humans in a lot of padding running around and knocking each other down. Anyway yes the humans should consume their treats slowly!

  11. Viola Bleu Avatar

Fabulous .. in the UK we have similar nets/bags which deliver hay more slowly to emulate a more natural grazing pattern. Makes a lot of sense .
    Your horse is beautiful x

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Thank you. I will pass on your compliment to Biasini. 😃

  12. fearlessinjesuschrist Avatar

Biasini, I think it is a godsend! It’s better for humans to eat small amounts throughout the day, as well. That way we never get really hungry and ate too much and then get sick afterwards. We can learn a lot from you!

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Thank you Fearless Human. I had never thought about how humans should eat but what you say sounds very wise. I always appreciate your comments. Fearless Human!

  13. Judy Avatar

I think my horse would have agreed with you about wanting to gobble it and yet enjoying nibbling for a long time. Wish I’d been as smart as your mom.

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Thank you Judy Human. Ma Leueen is quite smart, for a human. She looks after me well and i appreciate that.

  14. Tea and Tales1 Avatar

You make a good case for the net, Biasini. Your Ma is very wise as are you!

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Thank you Patricia Human for such a nice comment.
