I Can’t Climb Up. The Steps are Too Big.

Just take it one day at a time; just one step at a time. Oh, that’s easy to say isn’t  it?  But actually doing it? Ah, that’s the hard part.  How can I ascend that staircase of worry when the steps are too big; they’re covered with snow and ice . I can’t get a hand hold. I just can’t. I can’t do it.

When my head gets into this space I know it is no good telling  myself to just take it “one step at a time”, I have to take a break . So I go to the barn. I leave that staircase of worry at the gate and when I see my horse, Biasini, I may tell him about it. He will listen and for the  time I  am there it will lift up from my shoulders. I will have that break. And when my time at the barn is over I can go back and try to climb up. One step at a time.

There’s no reason to stress about anything in life… Everyone has to do things their own pace 🙂

In the case involved when I wrote that post it was about a very bad situation in a close relatives life. I could do nothing about it and hence my stress. But after riding and time at the barn I put it into perspective and let it go. Thanks for your comment it is a good reminder.

I can imagine it being more stressfull if someone else is involved and you cannot do anything or help in any way.

It is but you are still correct to say we must have patience and not stress.

I love how therapeutic animals can be. So glad Biasini was there to listen and lighten your worry load!

Yes they are. I am worrried about someone close to me that is in a very difficult time and I am worrying that she will not make it through. But Biasini helps to put it all into perspective.

I am sorry. Animals help, maybe some prayers will help too. Biasini will listen and I will pray for you during this time. Thinking of you.

That’s the way I always feel when I encounter a set of stairs! They can be very fearful although I have been trained on how to use my cane, it’s still pretty scary!

    1. anne leueen Avatar

I can understand that physical difficulty for you. I’ve been on crutches three times in my life and I found navigating the stairs especially going down was nerve wracking. The stair case of worry I was referring in to the post was the mental one and it can be equally nerve wracking! I appreciate your comment and understand how stairs can be a daunting task even with your cane.

Oh yes, our minds can definitely paralyze us! I wouldn’t want to go down stairs in crutches either!

Lovely text, short but it says so much. There always is something, be it a place perhaps, a person, a pet friend, even a book or a certain song, that can make one feel courage again, and confidence, hope. And I’m sure Biasini must be a treasure in that respect. 🙂

You are right. Often it can be a song or our little dog . Thanks for your comment.

Love your writing! One step at a time also applies to riding itself. 🐴💖

Exactly! The whole training scale thing. And I often have to remind myself to just take one step at a time with my riding. Thank you for your comment.

You don’t know how many times I have gone and leaned on a horses shoulder and told them everything–it really helps to get everything out, while talking to your horse, who is snuffling you, and “grooming” you and just loving you–it really helps! Horses are the best therapists!! <3 Praying for you Anne. <3

Thank you! I am fine. I was just worried recently about a close friend and there was nothing I could do to help the situation the friend was in. But I so agree that horses are the best therapists.

Take it easy and enjoy the little things you normally would not have time for 💜 Much love to you and Biasini from all of us here ☺💖🐎 xxx

Thank you . Please do not be concerned. I’m quite well . The photo challenge prompted me to think about all the times in life when the challenges seem too big to be overcome. Sometimes it can be challenges in the life of someone in my family or a close friend. My answer to that stress or worry is to go to the barn and take a break from climbing the staircase of worry. Much love to all of you. Enjoy your weekend.
