Fallen off the Edge?

Well there are many things about living in the country that are wonderful. But the Internet connection via satellite is not one of them.

This afternoon our Internet went out and after an interminable time of trying this that and the other thing under the instruction of “tech support” it was finally decided we have an “equipment failure.”. The aforementioned equipment has only been in for less than a year, there have been no lightening strikes or other natural disasters so I was surprised that we had a failure. But planned obsolescence is the order of the day I suspect.

What does this mean? It means that we must wait until ” sometime Friday” to get a service person out. Now we live in the country but only five minutes from the nearest town and only an hour from the city of Toronto. So not the “middle of nowhere” .  However.

It looks like I may be offline for a bit. I will go to the public library and hope to get a post up from there.  I’m doing this from my phone which is ok for desperate times but not ideal.

I will be back!  Till then Dear Readers.

In today’s computer era, it is next to impossible to be offline. Example, you was still able to post through your phone 😎

Yes I did get one post up using my phone. But for the rest of the week I have gone to a coffee cafe in town and worked on my pc for emails, following blog emails and other bloggers etc. But yes it is hard to find a place where there is no access to the Internet.

Living in the 21st century living on the outskirts doesn’t make you feel so cut off from the world as compared to when the internet crashes. It’s funny

We get used to it and take it for granted like electricity and running water! But in fact it isn’t as critical as either of those!

        Yeah true it isn’t!

At least you can enjoy being in the country without extra distraction for a little! I hope B is doing well with his extra time in FL.

Bibi is fine. Lou is riding him and the staff know him so he’s ok! Thanks!

We do not even have internet at the farm! However, we sometimes have the exact same problems as you in town and we do not even have to rely on satellite!!! Blogging from the phone is for the birds. I have done it often, but it is hard and looks funny. Not to mention how long it can take. When I am at the farm and need computer/internet, I head to the local public library or the new coffee shop. That is what I did when I was writing my thesis. Actually, I did that with both of them.

I’m in the coffee shop now. I always come here after the gym. It is run by two Korean brothers who are twins! Great guys and good coffee and sandwiches!

I hope it all gets sorted soon! I think we’ve all been there with the internet. It’s so weird suddenly not having access to it. Those times I do a lot of puzzles! 🙂 xxx

I love puzzles! I should have some on standby for these situations. Thanks for the suggestion. Meantime I’m using my phone and going to the Public Library.

Technology is great, when it works and so frustrating when it doesn’t. I am so un tech
savvy, I never understand what the support people are asking me to do. Yikes!

A few months ago our internet was not working and we were told that it will take a few days to get it fixed. 🙁 Then we purchased those Straight Talk portable/travel wi-fi thingy from Walmart. It worked great from our home. However, the main internet came back in a day. The portable one was not a total wastage; I traveled a few days later for which the portable one was of great service. Wish you a wonderful internet-free time. 🙂
