Looking Back.LAPC

I am getting this post in just under the wire as tomorrow there will be a new challenge for the week. But for this week Sophia gave us the photo Challenge of “Looking Back” . I am a believer in not looking back as I am not going that way but here goes.

Here is my equestrian past from the beginning and to the almost present.

I should just mention that in the photo above I was riding a very tall young mare and we had just saluted the judge in our first show. This mare took one look and then did a full 180 degree spin and bolted out of the arena. I turned her around and brought her back into the arena. I asked the judge if I could ride through the test just to give the mare some miles . The judge said:” Yes, but you will have to stay in the arena!” And we did stay in.

And last……the most talented horse I have ever ridden,Biasini in a clinic with Janet Foy in 2019. Biasini has taught me a lot!

It’s lovely to see your childhood photos with horses, Anne. They’ve been, and still are, a special part of your life. Is that your dad in the first photo? Your experience at the show sounds hilarious. Despite the titchy bit of sarcasm, the judge was gracious. 😀

It’s not my Dad..he may have been a cowboy or wrangler at a ranch we were at. I think the judge was gracious too.😊

This is such a wonderful post Anne, I really loved seeing your early riding days! And I loved the story about the horse leaving the arena. I bet that’s happened to lots of riders but good for you for coming back! Hope your feeling better these days!

You could use these for the theme “ stick-to-it-tiveness,” too. That judge’s response is pretty 😄 funny.

I really enjoyed your “looking back” with pictures of your partnerships. Thank you for sharing and your honesty.
The journey has taken you a long way and is more relatable than just seeing elite riders riding Biasini. It’s all lovely to read but today’s was special.
    Cheers .

Interestingly, I like what you say about not looking back. Still find the past fascinating, like your old photos, so lovely.
